Pe scurt
It was with outrage and disgust that this novel was received upon it's original publication, as the love affairs of the two sisters, Ursula and Gudrun, were more than the public could easily accept.
This sequel to the equally famous The Rainbow was regarded as a modernist and breakthrough novel or as a sordid and revolting tale of sexual and philosophical depravity, an answer to the cultural crisis that would end up leading to the First World War, as a scandal waiting to be born upon it's release. Nowadays it is considered to be a landmark in the art and evolution of D. H. Lawrence and one of the most interesting novels published in it's time.
